આવે છે...જંગલનો શહેનશાહ ‘શેરખાન’



વિજયગુપ્ત મૌર્યની જન્મશતાબ્દિ નિમિત્તે તારીખ ૨૬ માર્ચ, ૨૦૦૬ ના રોજ તેમનું બેસ્ટ-સેલર પુસ્તક ‘શેરખાન’ નવા રૂપરંગ સાથે પ્રગટ કરાયું છે. વર્ષો પહેલાં ‘રમકડું’માં હપતાવાર છપાયેલી ‘શેરખાન’ ૧૯૬૫માં પહેલી વાર પુસ્તકરૂપે પ્રગટ થઇ એ પછી તેની કુલ ત્રણ આવૃત્તિ પ્રગટ થઇ ચૂકી છે.

આ પુસ્તકનો હીરો ‘શેરખાન’ નામનો વાઘ છે અને વાર્તાનો પ્લોટ હિમાલયનાં જંગલો છે. વિજયગુપ્ત મૌર્ય લિખિત ‘શેરખાન’ માત્ર વાર્તા નહિ, જ્ઞાનનો પણ અજોડ ભંડાર છે. વાર્તા સાથે જ્ઞાનનું મિશ્રણ કેટલું મજેદાર રીતે કરી શકાય તેનું પણ અજોડ દ્રષ્ટાંત હોય તો એ ‘શેરખાન’ છે.

Ghana samaythi e shodhato hato, pan kyay mel padyo nai. ne safari ma eni jaher khabar pan aavati bandh thai etle em manyu k stok khalas! albat have fari mali sakase e sari vat che.

    There is a wealth of writings by Vijaygupta Mauray that is not available now. His books: on Prince Bismarck, Kapi na Parakramo, Haathi na Tolama, his series in Chitralekha on his travels, the gripping story of Bavla murder case and Bhowal sanyasi case. I fail to understand why his fans cannot get such first rate reading material from this giant journalist who was perhaps the first to write on these subjects for children and even elders.

    Harshalbhai, I am big fan of shri Vijaygupta Maurya. I am searching for Hathi na Tolama since very long time. Please reprint it. I want to keep it for my self and in future want to give it to my child. I want to make him/her understand that knowledge can be given in the form of Stories. Knowledge is not a dry thing.

    I READ THIS BOOK. OBVIOUSLY IT IS WRITTEN FOR CHILDREN BUT ALSO INTERESTING AND INFORMATIVE FOR ELDERS. SHREE VIJAYGUPAT TELL SOME INFORMATION LIKE AS WE ARE IN JUNGLE.

    ONE THING I WANT TO SAY THAT- IN THIS BOOK SOMEWHERE TOLD ABOUT FIRE LINE BUT THE WORD 'FIRE LINE' IS NOT GIVEN.

૧૯૦૯--૨૦૦૯ વિજયગુપ્ત મૌર્યની જન્મશતાબ્દિ વિજયગુપ્ત મૌર્ય--જ્ઞાનવિજ્ઞાનનો ચલતોફિરતો જ્ઞાનકોશ તારીખ તો બરાબર યાદ નથી, પણ વર્ષ ૧૯૫૭નું હતું. ભારતીય નૌકાદળનું યુદ્ધજહાજ INS રણજીત હિન્દી મહાસાગરમાં હંકારી રહ્યું હતું. મુંબઇથી મૂળ તો તે એડન જવા માટે નીકળેલું, પણ એડનમાં રોગચાળો ફાટી નીકળ્યાના સમાચાર મધદરિયે મળ્યા પછી જહાજે પૂર્વ આફ્રિકાની દિશા પકડી હતી. હવે તે કેન્યાના મોમ્બાસા બંદર તરફ આગળ વધી રહ્યું હતું. કાંઠો હજી કેટલાક કિલોમીટર દૂર હતો ત્યાં જહાજના વાયરલેસમાં મેસેજ ઝીલાયો. મેસેજ મોમ્બાસા બંદરેથી હતોઃ ‘આપના જહાજ પર વિજયગુપ્ત મૌર્ય નામના પત્રકાર હાજર છે? જો હોય તો એમને જાણ કરો કે તેઓને મળવા માટે અહીં ગુજરાતીઓની ભીડ જામી છે.’ ‘નહિ, એ નામની કોઇ વ્યક્તિ અમારા જહાજ પર નથી!’ INS રણજીત પર ફરજ બજાવી રહેલા કોમોડર એસ. એમ. નન્દાએ પ્રત્યુત્તર આપ્યો. ‘અહીં એક જ પત્રકાર છે અને તેમનું નામ મિસ્ટર વાસુ છે, વિજયગુપ્ત મૌર્ય નહિ.’ નન્દાએ ફોનનું રીસિવર મૂક્યું. આ સાંભળી કોમોડર નન્દાની બાજુમાં ઉભેલા પત્રકાર તરત બોલી ઉઠ્યા--‘એ હું જ છું... મારા વાચકો મને વિજયગુપ્ત મૌર્ય તરીકે ઓળખે છે.’ નન્દા આશ્ચર્ય પામી ગયા.
