One of the finest moments of 2012

Transit of planet Venus (seen as black dot) across the Sun...
...as I saw from my camera.

This picture was taken on June 6, 2012 with Canon 7D camera + 250mm zoom lens. Aperture f/32, shutter 1/8000 sec., ISO 100.

  1. We have midnight sun during summer in Tromsø, so we could observe the Venus-transit on the midnight sun, which started in midnight at 12:04 am (Central European Time). Fortunately, the weather was also very clean and the University of Tromsø organized a nice event with all arrangement for all people. I also observed it whole night till morning!! I also took many photos with my simple digicam. Fortunately, all 4 contact points were easily observed and I could also capture the Black Drop Effect in one of my photo!! :)

    3. Harshal sir, you can see some of those pics on my facebook profile using this URL :

As my camera is a very simple digicam (Sony H55) and the filter was simple solar filter that we use for our eyes, the picture quality is not so good. But I hope you will like it!! :)
